Choose Your Words
Maturity is knowing you have outgrown doing things only to seem "cool" and can now focus on more important things today that will help propel you to the level of success you desire. Maturity is realizing that the world doesn't revolve around you and that everybody is going through their own shit in their life every day with or without you. It's recognizing that whatever your thought process is, it isn't the same as everyone else around you. Sure, it is possible, but more so unlikely, to be thinking the exact same thing as one other person, let alone that one other be in your presence and situation at the exact same time as you. Either way, you certainly have not had the exact same experiences in life that have brought you to this very moment in the exact same fashion as any other human being. Even twins raised in the "same environment" are able to reflect back and see the future in very different lenses that make them choose to react or speak distinctively from each other based on what they personally value as most important to them as an individual.
We have to articulate what we want and need to others around us in a way that is going to be received properly. Simple choice of words can spare us from unintentional hurt and help highlight our genuine care and wellbeing to those around us we love the most. Sometimes, like children, we have to ask for further explanation if we feel there may have been a miscommunication. Other times, we pay attention to the weight of what is being said beyond just the script.
It's the non-verbal communication within the conversation that you also need to keep in mind when speaking and when spoken to. It's the access and proper utilization of tools at your disposal that shows how resourceful you are at ensuring your own progress and success. You have to mentally process how you want to speak before you open your mouth and choose your words intentionally if you want to truly show you can be taken at your word.
